~Selections To Be Tasted~
2010 Chateau de Pitray Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux $19.99*
The vineyard of Pitray extends over 36 hectares in one piece, on the clayey-limestone plateau of Gardegan, facing south, 8 km as the crow flies from the bell tower of St. Emilion. The vines, are of average age 30 years, produce a great wine bearing the Appellation Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux.
Wine Enthusiast 90 Points: From the respected, family-owned property making good value wines, including this medium-bodied Merlot and Cab Franc blend. Fragrant and full in the mouth, showing dabs of pepper spice, dried herbs, with dark plum and cherry, finishing firm and long.
65% Merlot & 35% Cabernet Franc
2013 Marziano Abbona San Luigi Dogliani Dolcetto $19.99*
Good wine tells a story of work and of passion. It tells of dusty hands, boots dirty with the soil of the earth, harvesting under the burning sun with bent backs. But it also tells a story of the surprise at the aroma of its must, of the joy in a toast shared with friends, and of the pride in knowing that the wine lives on in the memories and emotions of those who taste it.
The wines of Marziano Abbona tell everyone these stories: The work in the vineyards and the scruple for high quality; the joy of rediscovering, year after year, the wine and its complexity of flavors and aromas of the Langhe; and the curiosity for new discoveries and more subtle refinements.
Every wine by the Abbona winery expresses its uniqueness through the wonder of its intimate and personal character. Because every wine contains within it a story – but every story should be accompanied with the right wine.
Wine Spectator 90 Points: Aromas of fresh fruit that range from blackberry to cherry. On the palate, it is pleasant and tasty with a good acidity; displays considerable youth. It is best drunk in the first five years after bottling. A classic, everyday wine, it is easy to pair with food, from appetizers to cheese.
