Aging in cask 24 moths and aging in bottle 36 moths before going to market. Made from hand selected grapes from our vineyards in Rioja Alta. The color and structure is obtained after alcoholic fermentation maceration. The malolactic fermentation gives the wine suitable for mature aged in American and French oaks. Before being bottled, traditionally clarified with egg whites. Finally passed into our drafts which will age under conditions suitable temperature and humidity until the time of going to market.
Winemaker Notes Intense dark cherry color, with a top layer of color. Attractive aromas of berries, like blackberries, black currant, raspberry, all is joined together with the spices aromas from its ageing in the barrel. Its a complex wine very attractive on the palate, elegant with fine tannins.
The history of the company begins in the winery located in Haro in the neighborhood of the railway station “barrio de la estacion “ which dates back to 1879. Close to the railway tracks which during a time drove into the cellar to easily transport easily the wine in oak barrels and then in bottles.
The 545 hectares of vineyards that CVNE owns account for 50% of the company’s production, and are distributed between the two subregions of Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, an area of calcareous clay soils, ferrous clay and alluvial soils, under the influence of the Atlantic and Mediterranean climates.
This winery combines tradition, quality and innovation. In 1940 it was pioneer with the construction of the first concrete fermentation cellar in Spain. In the 80´s it was pioneer with the first vinification plant non aggressive, the use of gravity.
