A new vintage for Anne and Joseph Leflaive in the shape of Olivier, born on March 24th, 1945. At the time, the family’s Burgundy estate covered around 20 hectares. In 1965 Olivier attends the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce business school in Reims and obtains a bachelor’s degree in economics. After obtaining his degree Olivier, worked in both TV and radio with his friends from the radio show “Le Petit Conservatoire de Mireille” and trained adults in accountancy in his spare time. In 1984 Olivier becomes co-manager of Domaine Leflaive, along with his uncle Vincent, and later with his cousin Anne-Claude. Eventually he wanted his own venture so in 1984 whilst at the helm of Domaine Leflaive, Olivier decides to create his own company to buy in grapes and make wine: Olivier Leflaive Frères. He made legendary Burgundies until his retirement in 2010 but still maintains a very close hand in his wines.
2013 Olivier Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet $59.99*
91 Points – Wine Advocate
“The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet Village, which sees around 15% new oak, has a fragrant bouquet: apple blossom, touches of peach and yellow plum, quite complex for a village cru. The palate is fresh and malic on the entry with a keen line of acidity. Linear and correct with a slightly abrupt but delineated finish. Very fine.”
