Marie-Courtin “Efflorescence” Extra Brut $89.99*

Medium straw color, clear and sound with a steady mousse of very tiny bubbles. Profound aroma: pear cider, warm bread, marzipan, cashew butter, and wet stone. Crisp and agile on the palate with persistent wafts of the bouquet carrying through the long finish. Very dry with great tang, but it also has the flavor to pull it off.

Crème De La Crème

1998 Veuve Clicquot “La Grand Dame” $149.99*

La Grande Dame 1998 has a pale gold color with jade glints. The wine is crystal clear, with unbelievably fine bubbles.

On the first nose, typical Chardonnay characteristics come to the fore, with the arrival of floral and mineral aromas (acacia, ferns, chalk). By agitating the wine, scents of candied fruit (citrus fruits, apricots, quince) and sweet almond emerge, to reappear later in the mouth. After rotating the wine for a few minutes more, rare notes such as peaty malt, tobacco and delicate herbs, are gradually unveiled.

This aromatic, impressively complex bouquet is confirmed in the mouth. On the palate, the wine is clear-cut and pure, perfectly balanced with a delightful silky smoothness.

This wine has unbelievable aging potential. The 1998 vintage of La Grande Dame, the quintessence of the Veuve Clicquot style, reaches a peak of refinement.

2003 Krug Vintage $299.99*

Looking very fresh and complex with plenty of richness and caramelized autolysis characters. Quite distinctively fragrant chardonnay notes of citrus, stone fruits and melon. It heads into spicy territory, very resolved and composed, with nutty, bready nuances and chalky notes. There’s trademark kaleidoscopic appeal. The palate has depth and composure with assertive acidity amid supple, fleshy chardonnay grapefruit and white-peach-sorbet flavors, plus lemon pith and nougat. Long, majestic, commanding, dark, nutty, red-grape flavors and phenolics drive the palate long.

Henri Giraud Fût de Chêne MV $199.99*

Elegant, with a fine, creamy mousse, delicate acidity and layered notes of toasted almond, black cherry, honey, crème de cassis and lots of ground clove, anise and ginger. The minerally underpinning holds sway on the finish.

2006 Dom Perignon $149.98* Vinous/97 Points

The 2006 Dom Pérignon comes from a very rich vintage with an early ripeness that brought a lot of aromatic maturity. The white-golden prestige cuvée contains a bit more Chardonnay than Pinot Noir and opens with a deep and seductive, pretty accessible nose with intense yet fresh fruit aromas of pineapples, with peaches and tangerines. Lively, elegant yet full bodied on the palate.

2002 Bollinger R.D Extra Brut $389.99* Suckling/99 Points

Super fresh, this is striking given the 10 years in the cellars; it has a fine citrus nose – plenty of lemon, grapefruit, yellow chalky notes, some lighter floral elements too. The palate is super dry (dosage at 3-4g) and there’s a silky, sherbet-like texture, smooth, fine and long. The citrus flavours give way to the driving surging acidity, thunderous acidity, really driving and powerful. The finish twists very slowly through to light-toasted cashew fruit flavours, but lemon citrus prevails. This is thrilling Champagne.
